The Shakara Bag was born from a moment of nostalgia and creative intuition.

While sorting through her wardrobe, our founder’s mother came across a collection of old, high-quality aso oke fabrics, timeless, one-of-one pieces she no longer had use for.

She planned to discard them, but our founder saw something different, recognizing the beauty and craftsmanship woven into each fabric, she asked her mother to give them to her instead.

There was an idea forming, a way to preserve the heritage of these fabrics while transforming them into something new, modern, and functional.

She began to sketch, and from those sketches emerged what would become the Shakara Bag, a bold reinterpretation of culture, style, and individuality.

The first prototype wasn’t quite right; the fringes lacked fullness, and the shape didn’t capture her vision. But through patience, collaboration, and attention to detail, the design evolved, each revision bringing it closer to perfection.

What began as a mother’s cherished collection of aso oke became a timeless accessory that celebrates heritage, craftsmanship, and the art of reinvention.
